A craftsman’s studio for Michigan’s outdoors.
Blue Heron Outdoor Co. is a team of designers, gardeners, masons and arborists building the outdoor spaces homeowners dream about.
Built around the rhythms of Ann Arbor.
Blue Heron began with a simple idea: outdoor spaces deserve the same thoughtfulness as the homes they surround. We started with a single truck and a deep love for native Michigan landscapes — and grew by saying yes to every detail.
Today, our crews serve families from Saline to Northville, building everything from intimate cottage gardens to estate-scale outdoor living environments. Our standard is the same on every site: design with intention, build with excellence, communicate with care.
What we promise on every job.
Intentionality
Every plan is rooted in your property, lifestyle, and the long view.
Excellence
Craftsmanship is the floor, not the ceiling — we obsess over every detail.
Alacrity
Quick, warm communication. You always know where your project stands.
Humility
Hungry to learn, eager to improve, grateful for every neighbor we serve.
What our neighbors say.
“We found Blue Heron to be creative, sincere and very hard working. They photoshopped the image of the landscape proposal which made it easy to understand. We appreciate the use of native Michigan plants. We look forward to working with them on future projects.”
